ALDONA BARTNIK

Aldona Bartnik graduated as a soprano from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, specializing in historically informed performance. She appears frequently with many prestigious specialist vocal groups, including Collegium Vocale Gent, Collegium 1704, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Vox Luminis, and La Risonanza, Vox Luminis. She collaborated with Giovanni Antonini, Fabio Bonizzoni, Philippe Herreweghe, Konrad Junghanel, Ton Koopman, Václav Luks, Paul McCreesh, Andrew Parrott, Jordi Savall and Jos van Veldhoven.

Her many solo recordings also include albums in an artistic cooperation with the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble under the direction of Andrzej Kosendiak, which have thrice received the prestigious Fryderyk award and were nominated to ICMA – The International Classical Music Awards and Opus Klassiek.

In 2021, she received a scholarship from the Dutch Fonds Podiumkunsten, with which she organized a series of solo recitals Music of The Amber Routes with a Dutch early music group – Florens Ensemble.

In 2019 she received a prestigious scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture to support her scientific activity –  research into the music manuscripts stored in libraries in Wrocław.  Continuing this enterprise, in 2021, as part of the scholarship of the Mayor of Wrocław, her latest solo album ”A few words about love…”  was released, containing undiscovered songs and arias from scientific sources in Wrocław. She carries out this project with an outstanding Japanese pianist – Naruhiko Kawaguchi, who accompanies her on a historical piano.

Since 2021 Aldona has directed the Association of Artistic Initiatives Bridges of Culture, which organizes cultural events in the Silesia Region in Poland (www.mostykultury.pl). In 2022 she got award – Emotions 2022 granted by the Radio Wrocław Kultura for artistic achievements and contribution to the cultural life of the city of Wrocław. Since 2021 she is a member of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists in Wrocław.

The singer actively promotes Polish culture abroad, which resulted in a nomination for the Polonus 2016 award, given by the Polish community in the Netherlands. In 2018, with the pianist Maurice Lammerts van Bueren, she released her first solo CD, Melancholia, featuring songs of Polish composers  a.i. Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Fryderyk Chopin. In 2020 this album got a nomination in the first round of  the Fryderyk – prominent music award in Poland.

Aldona also performed both as a soloist and ensemble singer on many of the most significant stages and festivals around the world, including: Lincoln Center New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Royal Albert Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Tivolivredenburg Utrecht, National Forum of Music, Rudolfinum, BOZAR, Warsaw Philharmonic, Boston Early Music Festival, BBC Proms, Utrecht Early Music Festival, MAFestival in Bruges, Gent Festival van Vlaanderen,  Serenade! Washington DC Choral Festival, International Young Artist’s Presentation in Antwerp, International Festival Wratislavia Cantans, Festival de Saintes. In the latter half of 2016, she had a concert tour in the Netherlands and United States of America. She sang the solo part – I soprano in B minor Mass by J.S. Bach under Ton Koopman, in cooperation with students from The Juilliard School in New York and The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. This performance received enthusiastic reviews both from The Boston Early Music Festival and The Lincoln Center in New York. The production also had professional media coverage, broadcasted on Dutch public TV – NPO cultura.
